Adobe's Flash media platform has become incredibly popular since its introduction in 1996, but we're still awaiting two key developments for the Adobe Flash Player - namely a native 64-bit release, and a version optimised for mobile operating systems.

Fortunately for those waiting, the latter looks as though it'll arrive in beta form later this year. During a Q2 earnings announcement, Adobe revealed that a beta of Flash Player 10 will be coming to smartphones in October.

Good news for smartphone users, it seems, but Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen adds that the mobile-specific player will be optimised for Android, Symbian, Palm Web, and Windows Mobile operating systems. That's a lot of users covered, but there's no mention of support for Apple's iPhone or RIM's BlackBerry.

Shame about no iphone mention, but glad i just switched to windows mobile :P
Non-issue, flash can go away and die now.
Wonder if this will be filled with the usual amount of Adobe crap that comes along with it? Never fails to amaze me how Adobe manage to take seemingly simple programs and create massive installation files!
