Taiwan's GIGABYTE Technology seems to enjoy launching passively-cooled graphics cards, and after becoming one of the first to offer a passive Radeon HD 4850, it's showing some love for the Green Team with its all-new GeForce 9800 GT Silent Cell - dubbed the GV-N98TSL-1GI.

The card, pictured below, features GIGABYTE's latest mammoth heatsink, Silent Cell, which sports a large copper base and three heat pipes.

Despite lauding the card's cooling capability, GIGABYTE hasn't yet divulged its clock speeds. We know the card's imbued with 1GB of GDDR3 memory, but core and memory frequencies remain a mystery.

Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing or availability, either, but we do know the card features HDMI, VGA and DVI connectivity. Useful, perhaps, if you're looking into a higher-end HTPC, or if you just so happen to enjoy spending some quiet time with the PC.

I read a review of a passive Gigabyte Radeon 4850 recently, and its temps were actually lower than 4850 cards with a fan. They are a little pricier than the fan versions, but if you want silence and play games with a mainstream GPU, then Gigabyte's 4850 and now the 9800GT could be the ones to look out for.

It's good to see companies being more innovative with graphics card cooling instead of sticking with the standard reference fan cooling designs. Nice one Gigabyte.
