The biggest names in the industry are vying to deliver the quickest SSDs on the market, and whilst many are still playing catch up with Intel, Patriot's Warp series is getting mighty quick itself.

The 2.5in 128GB Warp SSD, pictured to the right, has today been upgraded to v3 and now offers read and write speeds of 240MB/s and 160MB/s, respectively - matching what's available from Patriot's 256GB option.

That's just a shade slower than Intel's enterprise-orientated E series, which offers read and write speeds of 250MB/s and 170MB/s.

Still, whilst speeds continue to improve, prices aren't falling as quickly as we'd hoped. Patriot hasn't yet announced availability details regarding the 128GB Warp SSD v3, but armed with the aforementioned speeds, it isn't likely to come cheap.

Official press release: Patriot's Warp 128GB gets even Faster with New Release of v3!

I imagine it'd be pretty telling if they posted their random write speed. After all this time, I suspect it's still only Intel that have actually got SSDs right. Most companies seem to be obsessed with posting the highest sequential read/write speeds, at the cost of all else. Idiots.
Spot the mistake :p (hint, read the text at the bottom)

is the mistake that the picture isn't to the right?

It's not on the right hand side because your browser window is so tiny.
 this feels like a trap. not biting
