MSI has today launched a pair of GeForce GTX 285 graphics cards equipped with its all-new SuperPipe technology.

As the name suggests, SuperPipe is a custom cooling system featuring enhanced heatpipes. According to MSI, SuperPipe products will feature 8mm thick heatpipes - roughly 60 per cent thicker than usual - that vastly improve heat dissipation and result in a 90 per cent improvement in thermal efficiency.

Whilst we've yet to see real-world cooling performance, MSI's extra-thick SuperPipes are now available as part of either the stock-clocked N285GTX SuperPipe or the factory-overclocked N275GTX SuperPipe OC. The latter of which features a 680MHz core and 1GB of DDR3 memory clocked at an effective 2,500MHz.

Both cards utilise what MSI calls a "Twin Frozr -Dual-Fan Thermal Design", featuring a pair of fans, five heatpipes - two of which are SuperPipe - and an all-metal heatsink.

No word on pricing yet, but we expect availability soon, and we'd be surprised not to see SuperPipe implemented on other MSI cards in the near future, too.

Personally i think its fugly
It's not that bad, a black PCB would of improved it's looks a bit, as would a black rear IO plate and red dvi sockest

But the real question will be how well it performs.

One point I should make about heat pipes is it's not just how wide they are that effects there performance, far from it.
The internal sturcture and the effeicenice of the capilery action, the amount of fluid with in them, the compersition of the fluid and the optimal heat range.
All have major effects on a heat pipe and how well it works in a given application.
Yea I hate red pcb; espically on green team cards. Cooler looks nice tho. Gainward/palit and AC make the best aftermarket air coolers in my experience.
