EVGA has rolled out another custom derivative of NVIDIA's all-conquering GeForce GTX 295.

Dubbed the EVGA GeForce GTX 295 Red Edition, the card, pictured below, is... bright red. Not the charitable (RED) you've seen elsewhere mind you, just plain ol' bright red.

It's certainly eye catching for users with a windowed chassis, but the Red Edition card is priced at $549.99 - that's $45 more than EVGA's not-so-colourful base model.

Despite the price hike, the card's clocked at NVIDIA's stock frequencies - that's 576MHz for each GPU and an effective 1,998MHz for the 1,792MB of GDDR3 memory. It's no quicker, then, but what it does add to the mix is a red-coloured EVGA backplate.

The custom backplate is said to lower temperatures when compared to NVIDIA's reference PCB-baring design. However, EVGA also offers a non-red backplate-equipped GeForce GTX 295 for $20 less.

You've got to be a real fan of all things red to be fancying one of these, we reckon.

'Mentally challenged' might cover it better.
That's some weak-ass s*** right there.
I'm assuming it's to match the classified. TBH this card is really nasty looking. Still if someone was to give me two or three of them I'd not complain even tho' I'd have to change the led's in my case.
maybe they're following the Warhammer Ork logic that ‘red ones go faster’…

while i'm a fan of the colour red those cards seem a bit garish to me… and certainly not worth forking out extra for…
Inspired by the Resident Evil Xbox …
