MSI's going all out with gaming notebooks. Having already unleashed one of the world's first portable systems to feature ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 4850, it's now following up with a notebook that sports NVIDIA's recently-launched GeForce GTX 160M.

Dubbed the MSI GT628, the mobile powerhouse features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 320GB hard drive, built-in Blu-ray and a 15.4in LCD display that provides a 1,680x1,050 resolution.

NVIDIA's mobile graphics chip - the GeForce GTX 160M - is an updated derivative of the GeForce 9800M and will equip the system with 64 processor cores, 1GB of DDR3 memory, a 256-bit memory interface, and support for PhysX acceleration.

The system clearly has more power than your average notebook, but we're still unsure of MSI's implementation. The GT628 appears to carry over all the design elements of the recently-reviewed GT725, so we're already anticipating a cramped keyboard and a few other usability quirks, too.

There's no mention of pricing yet, but we're told the GT628 will be reaching U.S. shores sometime in April.
