Dell's existing Core i7-packing Studio XPS already has us impressed - enough so for HEXUS' Tarinder Sandhu to bestow the system with an Editor's Choice award.

That isn't to say the system was perfect, mind you. We found the port arrangement needed work, and cooling could have been improved. To Dell's credit, it has taken those points on board and launched the new Studio XPS 435.

Pictured below, this Core i7-based multimedia desktop introduces a new design that incorporates pure white, translucent black and crimson orange. It isn't just an aesthetic makeover, either, Dell has repositioned the I/O ports and included a recessed media tray on which you'll be able to rest connected devices.

The base system - currently retailing at $1,099 - features Intel's 2.66GHZ Core i7 920 processor, coupled with Intel's X58 chipset. Graphics are powered by a 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics card, and there's 3GB of tri-channel DDR3 memory on board.

Moving up the options ladder, Dell's top pre-configured XPS 435 is currently retailing at $1,549 and raises the bar with 6GB of DDR3, a 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4670 and a 24in widescreen monitor, too.

It's looking a very tidy system, but there's one caveat - it won't be available to European customers until June.

Even when the dollar was 2:1 we never got suitable exchange rates for products compared to the US. I don't think there has ever been a time where the UK has had competitive prices with the rest of the world tbh.

Taxed to hell over here :(
