Despite the fact that a Power Over eSATA standard is yet to be established, we quite liked the eSATA/USB SSD unveiled by Silicon Power at the back end of 2008.

Originally available in capacities of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB, the Taiwanese manufacturer is today expanding the range to include a new 64GB model.

As we know, the drive is essentially a Flash drive that's able to utilise an eSATA interface to deliver quicker transfer speeds - we're talking a read speed of 90MB/s and a write speed of 42MB/s, around eight times quicker than the average USB drive.

As with smaller-capacity models, the drive is powered by a Mini USB port found at the rear, and a Mini USB cable is bundled. Not the tidiest of solutions, but if you're looking for a high-capacity flash drive that delivers on performance, this could be it.
