The 4GB of DDR2 memory in my personal system continues to serve me well, but if you're the kind of user that eats RAM for breakfast, you're gonna enjoy watching Kingston Technology's latest tech demo.

Using GIGABYTE's GA-EX58 UD5 motherboard, Intel's Core i7 920 processor, NVIDIA graphics and half-a-dozen 4GB ValueRAM DDR3 engineering samples, it's showing off the 24GB DDR3 desktop. If you're inclined to simultaneously run numerous virtual machines, take a look:

It's a fun little teaser for a Friday morning, but don't expect 4GB DDR3 modules until later in the year. Worth noting, too, that Kingston claims its pre-production 24GB kit (6x4GB) cost over $2,000 to produce. Ouch.

Dont expect them to be affordable either. Would have been nice for them to load a level of crysis rather than just the game.Quote

I would just prefer Kingston to put their efforts into making their present DDR3 kits more available in the UK than thinking about 4GB modules for the end of this year. I have been waiting nearly a month to get a hold of either the Kingston 6GB 1600mhz or 2000mhz Core i7 (2x3) triple packs. Both are readily available in the USA and through Kingston's own .com website shop (which won't ship to the UK). Their supply to any of their UK resellers is very poor at the moment.Quote

Price isn't as issue at the moment TBH.

Anyone who needs 24GB of DDR3 on an i7 board, should be willing to pay the price.
