This time last month, the highlight of Apple's lacklustre MacWorld event was the introduction of a 17in MacBook Pro.

The system - Apple's largest MacBook Pro to date - had been made available to pre-order on January 7th and was expected to ship by the end of last month. Unfortunately, eager customers have now been advised that "wrapping up the new 17-inch MacBook Pro is taking a few days longer than we projected...as a result, we will be unable to ship your 17-inch MacBook Pro until February 19, 2009."

Despite offering no additional information on the cause of the delay, Apple states that customers can cancel their orders and receive a refund by calling its customer service department.

The smooth-looking 17in MacBook Pro features an aluminium unibody enclosure, a non-removable battery that promises up to eight hours of juice, a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors and NVIDIA GeForce 9-series graphics.

Here's hoping you didn't order one as a Valentine's Day gift.

I thought they now HAD to make the batteries removable thanks to some kind of green policy in the EU (i forget all the names of that hippy stuff :p)
