Core i7 upgrade kits are beginning to catch on and Thermaltake - not wanting to be outdone by the likes of Aqua Computer and Noctua - has announced a number of solutions for new-and-existing customers.

As a quick recap, Intel's Core i7 processors utilise the all-new socket LGA 1366 which happens to be larger than the currently-common LGA 775. As a result, many users will find their existing CPU cooling solution may not fit into place without some form of upgrade kit.

Starting today, Thermaltake will be shipping a new version of its V1 air cooler with mounting clips that support socket LGA 1366. For existing customers, the Taiwanese thermal solution provider will be providing upgrade kits for its V1, V1 AX and BigTyp120 VX coolers.

The current solutions won't cover a large number of existing Thermaltake customers, but the manufacturer assures us that upgrade kits for its other performance coolers will be available "in the near future".

There's no mention of pricing, either, but the more-complex kits won't be free ala Noctua's all-in-one solution.

Thermaltake?. Should offer free upgrade really but then again why should they? if you bought an old socket a you wouldnt expect to be given support when you change it would you?

No no I mean Thermalright :D

I know they shouldn't but to those who've just bought one they'll probably be miffed. Also it makes the other companies look better by them doing that :P
