Introduction

Less than a month ago Sapphire jumped on the Radeon HD 4870 bandwagon by formally announcing the Sapphire TOXIC Edition.

Sporting elevated clockspeeds and some funky Vapor-X and heatpipe cooling, the TOXIC Edition is RV770 pushed to the limit - so it would have been rude not to look at one when the opportunity arose.

Fast and furious, Sapphire reckons this is the graphics card to own if your budget extends to around £200.

We've put it through our benchmarks to determine whether it's worth the extra outlay over a reference-clocked card and if it makes a compelling case against NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 260 - in both 192- and 216-core iterations.
