Microsoft has today launched the largest consumer marketing campaign in the history of the company, and it's something of a cryptic affair.

The first advertisement is merely a teaser, and features Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates - a pairing expected to reappear in a series of ads that will focus on the potential of Microsoft Windows across a broad spectrum of devices.

The ad can be viewed below on a Microsoft Silverlight-based player, or on YouTube.com.

Microsoft will be hoping that the campaign will help change the public perception of its misunderstood operating system, Windows Vista.

Though this first ad will do nothing more than raise an eyebrow, we can expect to see a lot more of the Gates-and-Seinfeld combination in the coming months.

That was.. Interesting.. different.

Hopefully the rest of the adverts will actually have a purpose, I suppose this could be too much to ask though, given that we are talking about MS.
so… gates has a shoe fetish?

God I hate these stupid adverts that have no meaning and no correlation to the product their trying to sell.

It's like that recent Orange advert with that guy riding a bike saying “I am my mum, dad, brother, sisters boyfriends cousin”, how exactly does that advertise that your a mobile phone company?
