AMD has launched two new professional graphics accelerators, the ATI FirePro V5700 and ATI FirePro V3700.

The cards, part of AMD's new FirePro brand, join its existing FireGL lineup and hope to offer a low-to-mid-range alternative in the professional 3D graphics market.

The entry-level ATI FirePro V3700, aimed at CAD professionals migrating from 2D, is available now priced at a low $99 and offers 256 MB of frame buffer memory, two dual-link DVI connectors and VGA mode support.

The mid-range feature-packed ATI FirePro V5700, is said to deliver "the perfect balance of price and application performance for CAD and DCC professionals". It'll offer 512MB of frame buffer memory, dual-link DVI and DisplayPort connectivity. AMD claims its true 30-bit display engine will produce more than one billion colours at any given time, and there's support for Blu-ray features such as dual-stream and picture-in-picture. The ATI FirePro V5700 will appear in September with a MSRP of $599.

For those looking for a complete solution, Dell has confirmed that the ATI FirePro cards will soon be available as an option in its Precision T7400, T5400 and T3400 desktop workstations.
