External reviews: 2.5" Hard Drives
Freecom today announced its Mobile Drive XXS, and declared it to be both the smallest and lightest 2.5in external hard drive in the world.
The device, pictured below, is said to be 27 per cent smaller than its closest competitor and measures just 109.8mm x 79.5mm x 13.5mm. It'll cause less sagging for your pockets, too, weighing just 155g.

Despite its lightweight design, the drive is available in 160GiB, 250GiB and 320GiB capacities. It'll utilise USB 2.0, providing speeds of up to 480Mbit/s, and the drive is encased in a "form-fitting rubber sleeve for optimal grip."
It'll work with both Mac and PC, and the 160GiB, 250GiB and 320GiB models are priced at £44.99, £59.99 and £79.99, respectively.

I've got an IcyBox 2.5" one that I'm more than happy with. I'd much rather have the choice of hard drives which go in the enclosure and all for an entire £3 more.Quote
How will the rubber sleeve stop the drive rattling inside the enclosure?
Because the rubber sleave is the enclosure. Just like the silicon skins you get for iPods and some phones.Quote
Is the case solid enough? And, does anybody know what chipset does freecom uses inside the case?Quote
