There's a rapidly growing consumer desire for tidy all-in-one PCs, but nobody has quite managed to replicate the beauty of Apple's iMac.

We are getting closer, though, and Averatec's new All-in-One PC is a pretty decent-looking solution.

Aside from its unimaginative name, the All-in-One features a 22in 1680 x 1050 display and its real selling point is the fairly low $1,249 price-tag. That'll get you a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E4400, 2GiB of DDR2 667, a 3.5in 320GiB SATA HDD, NVIDIA's GeForce 8400 graphics card, a built-in HD TV Tuner and built-in Wi-Fi.

There's a slot-loading DVD burner and integrated speakers, and, as you'd expect from an all-in-one solution, a wireless keyboard and mouse are bundled.

The side of the device houses two USB 2.0 ports, headphone and mic sockets, and a 6-in-1 card reader. On the rear you'll find four additional USB 2.0 ports, line in and line out, Gigabit LAN, SPDIF, DVI Video out and an ATSC TV tuner for use in North America and South Korea.

At $1,249 (approx. £650), and with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-loaded, it seems a pretty tasty deal. Though, we'd expect the device to remain stateside-only, so don't hold your breath for a European version.

Why no Euro release.. this looks good and is priced well. Not everyone wants to run OSX or use Apple HW to run XP or Vista when Apple charge such a premium.

What a shame....Quote

Worth mentioning that the Averatec website says the US tuner is OPTIONAL which to me makes the thing totally suitable for UK and Euro use...

Anyone know where U can buy reasonably priced MXM VGA cards?Quote
