A little over two weeks ago, the HEXUS question of the week asked; what will be your next graphics card?
Our HEXUS.community members were given the following 10 options to choose from:
To our surprise, and no-doubt NVIDIA's too, the HEXUS.community members have shown a distinct preference for the AMD options.
As of July 3rd, 86 of our members have taken part in the ongoing poll, and no less than 74 per cent have stated that their next graphics card will be AMD-based. To help illustrate the tipping of the scales, here's a pie chart showing the percentage of users voting for each option:

The red-team (AMD), is a clear favourite following the launch of its Radeon HD 4000 series graphics cards. A staggering 47 per cent stated their next GPU would be based on AMD's top-of-the-range Radeon HD 4870, followed by 19 per cent who stated AMD's mid-range Radeon HD 4850 would be their card of choice.
On the NVIDIA front, just 8 per cent of our readers opted for the fastest single-GPU board in the world, NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 280. Followed by only 5 per cent choosing the GeForce GTX 260. Pricing, it appears, is hugely important as 13 per cent stated they'd opt instead for another NVIDIA GeForce-based solution.
Less surprising, is the fact that CrossFire and SLI options remain a niche solution for the market. Just 8 per cent of our readers showed their intent to utilise a CrossFire setup, and none have plans to run NVIDIA's GTX 200 series in SLI. Linking cards together clearly isn't as popular as both AMD and NVIDIA would have us believe.
Our statistics will no doubt be music to AMD's ears, and have been reinforced with news of further NVIDIA price cuts. Judging by our members' current opinion, the green-team may need more than just lowered prices in order to reclaim its chunk of the pie.

I'll be upgrading the rest of the system when Nehalem comes out, and probably start looking at a graphics upgrade shortly after that. So my answer to the poll would be "none of the above"...Quote
Then again, if these rumors of DirextX 11 coming sooner rather than later...I may wait, just in case these DX10 cards don't support it. :innocent:Quote
4870X2 most likely. Not desperate *right now* so waiting for the X2 is on the cards (har har)
I think the 4870 X2 is going to be the way to go tbh, not wanting to upgrade until there's a decent little leap anyway.Quote
While its a poor benchmark now here's my 3d Mark 06 results
17,938 not too shabby for a sub £200 card.Quote
