Radeon HD 4870 CrossFire wins out at all resolutions, handily so at 2,560x1,600. The CrossFire HD 4850 pair keep up with the GTX 280 and 9800 GX2, and single-GPU HD 4870 keeps the 9800 GTX(+) menace in close view.

The average frame-rates are impressive from all GPUs, but the single-slot-taking £125 HD 4850 is singled out for special praise.
