Now available in newly designed Satellite laptops

You know that feeling when your laptop is powered down but you're itching to use the USB ports? No? Well, me neither but it could happen, honest.

Fortunately, the latest feature to be implemented in Toshiba's new range of Satellite laptops is Sleep-and-Charge USB ports and yep, you guessed it, they "make it possible to charge and power electronic devices no matter if the laptop is powered-on, off or in sleep mode".

Sounds pretty simple, but having the functionality available could actually prove to be useful. There is a catch however, your laptop will need to be connected to a mains socket in order for the Sleep-and-Charge USB ports to function, but that's got to be expected.

Toshiba A300 - now with magic USB!

The first four Toshiba laptops equipped with the said ports are the redesigned Satellite U400, Satellite M300, Satellite A300 (pictured) and Satellite P300, all of which are now available directly from Toshiba at www.toshibadirect.

So, dear readers, what do we think? Are your laptops Must-be-Awake USB ports now paling in comparison?

Blimey - they've even come up with a marketing term for something that desktops already do.. Ok it's nice to have and it's sensible (works only when the laptop is mains powered) but.. groundbreaking?
