It's small, but not too small

We told you small was all the rage these days, and like Lenovo, Canada-based Stealth Computer Corporation promises not to compromise by delivering "a PCI card expansion slot in a powerful small computer".

Stealth LPC-450PCI

The computer, Stealth's LPC-450PCI Little PC, offers an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, measures in at 10" x 5.8" x 2.8" and weighs approximately 4.5kgs.

Housed in its robust anodised aluminium chassis, you'll also find a PCI slot - a feature missing from Stealth's previous LPC-450.

"Customers can simply add specialised I/O, video, data acquisition and communications cards, something that cannot be achieved without resorting to larger clunky desk top computers" said Stealth's President & CEO, Ed Boutilier.

It might be small, but in addition to the PCI slot you'll also get plenty of connectivity. This Little PC offers LAN, two serial, three USB, FireWire, Video, Audio, PS/2 Mouse & Keyboard ports. You also have the option of a 80GB, 120GB or 160GB hard drive, or an alternative Solid State Drive.

With its base configuration, the Steal LPC-450PCI carries a retail price of $1450.00. If you really want one, you'll be happy to hear that Stealth do ship internationally.

I'm sure I shall reveal my naivety about how the “press” works but I saw this “story” a few hours earlier on Engadget…. Coincidence? :)
Methanoid, it works on the basis that Stealth Corporation sent out their press release on February 27th. Tech sites all then have the option of using that press release to make a story. Not much of a coincidence.
not much smaller than a mini-itx box, but a lot more expensive. I wounder how noisey they are thou.
how much is a pci slot worth? it's certainly a very poor value (and ugly) prospect compared to a mac mini

Well to keep a PCI slot I'd rather have a mini-ITX such as Intel D201GLY and in a decent case with some room like the Noah case OR… Shuttle's new KPC, which if you read the manual has a picture showing that there is actually a space for an optical driver, just some dremel work needed on the plastic front panel to allow it to get to the outside world…

This Stealth thing certainly doesnt rock my world!! :juggle:
