XPS One, XPS M1330 and XPS 1530 going (RED)
(RED), an economic initiative designed to raise money for the Global Fund that helps women and children affected by AIDS, was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver and will later this week take on board two key new partners, Microsoft and Dell.
As part of the initiative, Dell will be selling three computer systems branded as (RED) products, the Dell XPS One desktop system, and XPS M1330 and XPS 1530 notebooks.
For each (RED) system sold, the companies will together contribute $80 for each desktop and $50 for each notebook to the Global Fund which then uses 100% of the money to finance health and community support programs in Africa.
The Dell systems aren't just marked as (RED) on the outside either, making a touch more effort, Microsoft has ensured the products feel (RED) on the inside too by offering customised versions of Windows Vista Ultimate. The (RED) Vista will feature exclusive wallpapers, sidebar gadgets and screensavers.
Other (RED) products already available include Apple's special edition (RED) iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle, Motorola's (RED) mobile phones and Hallmark's (RED) greeting cards. If you're shopping for something new, keep (RED) in mind and help make a difference.
Here's a little video showcasing what the (RED) initiative aims to achieve:
