Introduction

David, the big bad boss-man of HEXUS.net, tried last week to convince me to come along to the Linspire 5 launch event, coverage of which Bob C kicked off here. It's nice and warm in the Tux-cave, so I told David I'd only come if he arranged a one-on-one interview for me with the Linspire CEO Michael Robertson - something, it turns out, he'd sorted already!

So we turned up to a hotel in Covent Garden, London, for the product briefing and free lunch [I thought there was no such thing as a free lunch - Bob C].

For those at the back who weren't listening to Bob earlier, here Linspire 5.0 in a nutshell: It's a paid Linux distribution targeted at ordinary users of desktop and laptop PCs - not geeks and not server administrators.

Michael Robertson is the former CEO of MP3.com and the mysterious benefactor of a $200,000 prize for the Xbox-Linux project - as well as being founder and CEO of Linspire Inc, and of MP3tunes.com (MP3-based music store) and SIPphone.com (VOIP company).

After the main product briefing (and lunch), Michael spent a good half hour answering my questions.
