Super sexy transparent monitor on the way

Dell was always adamant that the Dell Crystal, pictured below, was nothing more than a design concept. That was until the product launched earlier today at dell.com/crystal. Though the launch website has since been pulled for unknown reasons, we can expect this beauty to ship over the next few days.

Dell Crystal

At just 4mm thick and surrounded by transparent glass - embedded with four speakers and a 2 megapixel webcam no less, the Dell Crystal is as easy on the eye as they come. Measuring in at 22", the display offers a 1680x1050 WSXGA resolution, TrueColour Technology, 2ms response time, 2000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and DVI, HDMI, and USB for connectivity.

Though the specification isn't bad, it isn't quite as jaw dropping as the style of the display, or indeed the price. The cost of such a sexy display on your desktop? $1,199.

*UPDATE*

The Dell Crystal is now official as the launch page has, well, re-launched over at www.dell.com/crystal

An official announcement is also available on the Direct2Dell blog.

That would be mint although I`m not a big fan of built in speakers.
That's a fashion piece, unfortunately with the price to match. :(

Absolutely stunning though. Just… absolutely stunning. :surrender:
I'm unaware of anything similar being launched by other companies with the glass surround. It looks sweet! I think they have got the price a bit wrong though despite the really good looks.
by the sounds of the spec of the monitor it is a TN panel?

It looks very nice :)
I thought Dell were one on the backers of the display port interface, supprised it's not on this monitor.
