Currently doing the rounds

We just wanted to make you aware that you shouldn't be fooled or indeed worried by a new, particularly foul, email scam that is currently doing the rounds from someone claiming that they work in a detective agency.

The email was initially flagged up by Phil Bateman, a councilor in the Wednesfield North area of the West Midlands, who claims that the email sent to him was registered to a company in Guatemala (hence the poor English).

Since Mr. Bateman made the email public, other people have come forward to say they too have received the same email.

The message is titled: "We have tape of your conversation" and reads. "I am working in a detective agency. My name is not important. I want to warn you that I'm going to watch you and monitor your telephone line."

" Do you want to know who paid for shadowing you? Wait for my next letter."

Speaking to the Express & Star, Bateman said "There are a lot of scams out there, but this one is particularly nasty as it suggest that someone could be being blackmailed".

Very cloak and dagger - you've been warned.

Mr Bateman's going all psycho on that scammer's arse :)
Pass the acid, the drainpipe and the hungry rat, please. And stick some Genesis on.
