PRESS RELEASE

Updated design and social 360° live streaming capability make 360° content more accessible and easier to share

London UK – 28th April 2017 – Samsung Electronics today announced that the new Gear 360, the company’s latest 4K resolution-capable 360° camera, is now available to pre-order in the UK. The new Gear 360 has evolved to enable 360° live streaming and 4K video recording, which users can then make their own with the Samsung Gear 360 app.

Whether it’s packed in a bag or a pocket, the redesigned Gear 360 is lightweight and compact, making it perfectly portable. It’s also now easier than ever to capture a full 360° view of the world with real 4K video capabilities, as the 8.4-megapixel image sensors and Bright Lens F2.2 on both dual fisheye lenses, result in crisp, clear and high-quality content.

In addition, the Gear 360 introduces real-time content sharing. When the Gear 360 is synced with a compatible smartphone or computer, the new device enables users to share their best experiences with high-quality live streaming or direct uploading to platforms such as Facebook, YouTube or Samsung VR, to offer an expanded ecosystem.

The Gear 360 also leverages Samsung’s innovative technologies and services to seamlessly share, view and edit content. Whether creating a 360° video or still images, users can access various viewing modes, editing tools and photo effects and filters to create customised content. Users can also effortlessly convert 360° videos into standard formats for easy-to-share content. What’s more, it’s easier to catch every second with the Gear 360’s longer battery capacity* and add up to 256GB of memory by simply inserting a microSD card**.

The Gear 360 is compatible with a selection of third-party accessories and mounts. The latest edition of the Gear 360 is compatible with Samsung flagship devices, including the newly released Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy A5 (2017) and GalaxyA7 (2017). The Gear 360 also offers greater compatibility with iOS devices including the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE, as well as Windows and Mac computers.

UK consumers can pre-order the new Gear 360 through Samsung’s online store (priced £219.00), as well as selected retailer partners. The Gear 360 will launch in the UK on the 12th May.
